Title:                          Substitute Teacher                      

 

Qualifications:           As set by the state certification authorities

                                                                                               

Reports To:                Teacher, Principal

 

Job Objective:            To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will

                                  contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible

                                  adults in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

 

Salary:                        Per Salary Schedule set by Board of Education

 

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  1. Continue the plan of study that, as much as possible, the regular classroom teacher has outlined.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  
  2. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  3. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, and in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and project to communicate these objectives to students.                                                                                      
  4. Employ instructional methods and materials that the regular classroom teacher has deemed most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  5. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required by the regular classroom teacher and the principal.
  6. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct for the classroom behavior and procedure; and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  7. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  8. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  9. As much as possible, prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request from immediate superior.
  10. Strive to implement by instruction and action the district philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  11. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  12. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  13. Cooperate with other members of the staff.
  14. Perform other responsibilities as directed by the teacher or principal.
