Title: School Bus Driver/Substitute School Bus Driver
New procedures by the Cabinet for Health & Family Services call for each new employee and volunteers to complete a Central Registry Check. Qualifications: 1. High School Diploma or GED Certificate
2. Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
3. Must have a social security number.
4. Must have a valid Kentucky driver’s license.
5. Must have knowledge of first aid procedures.
6. Must have a good driving record.
7. Must pass a yearly physical examination.
8. Must have a general knowledge of bus maintenance.
9. Must successfully complete the Kentucky approved training program for school bus drivers.
Reports To: Superintendent or his his designee
Job Objective: To support the policies of the Board of Education and help promote the progress of the school system by providing students with safe transportation to school and school-related activities.
Performance
Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of school children.
2. Responsible for controlling the behavior of students while riding bus.
3. Keep accurate route records, student pick-up lists, damage reports, daily reports including fuel vouchers, student conduct reports, and special trip vouchers.
4. Report any student misconduct to principals.
5. Attend bus drivers’ meetings as required by the Superintendent or designeee.
6. Keep headlights, stop lights, turn signals, bus windshield, rear glass, and door glass clean and free from obstructions.
7. Report any bus malfunction to the school vehicle mechanic.
8. Perform minor bus maintenance or repairs if the need arises.
9. Administer minor first aid to student if needed.
10. Perform daily checks on bus condition and prepare records.
11. Maintain a good record of meeting time schedule.
12. Drive properly and safely at all times; obeying laws and other regulations.
13. Responsible for keeping the interior and exterior of bus clean and free from debris.
14. Project a good role model for students in both physical appearance and moral character.
15. Report to the superintendent or his designee in timely fashion when unable to drive bus.
16. Secure board approved substitute school bus driver when unable to drive.
17. Supervise monitor in caring for preschool students.
18. Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent or his designee. |
